Land Acknowledgement
The land from which this work is developed on is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Huron-Wendat peoples. This land is part of Treaty 19 and falls within the Dish With One Spoon Wampum agreement, which affirms principles of shared responsibility, respect, and stewardship of the land.
Today, this land is home to many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. Acknowledging this land is a recognition of the enduring presence and contributions of Indigenous communities, as well as an awareness of the responsibilities that come with living and working here. It is important to move beyond acknowledgment by continuing to learn, to listen, and to take meaningful action in addressing the ongoing impacts of colonialism and the systemic inequities faced by Indigenous peoples, as highlighted by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) Reports.
